When I first joined ICT Social Business, to say I was green behind the ears about Social Media, would be an understatement. I had used Facebook and Twitter for leisure but in no shape or form for business.

After many internal trainings session, I became confident in managing major client accounts. During my morning online research rituals, I always find interesting articles and tips on how social media and Facebook can be used for business. So I decided to share some tips which I feel have changed how I use Facebook for Business.

Here are the ten tips in managing Facebook for Business: –

Tip 1:  – Role Modelling:

Take a look at successful social media campaigns and top brands, understand why they are successful and have a large fan following.

Tip 2: – Learn the “rules” of Facebook:

Successful Facebook business/brand pages have a few “rules” in common – they are consistent in posting, always engage with the audience and ensure that there is some form of action required by the user.

Tip 3: – Become a Facebooker:

In other words live, breathe, eat, & sleep Facebook. Understand the communication language and jargons that are unique to Facebook – Timeline, Like, Top Stories, Tag, to name a few.

Tip 4: – Create your page:

Once you have become comfortable on using Facebook, you are ready to launch your business/brand page.

Tip 5:- Draft a communication strategy:

Clearly plan out how you are going to communicate with your audience and what type of posts you are going to put it. Avoid repitions and topics with low level of user interest.

Tip 6: – Understand Edge-Rank &the art of engagement:

Ensure that your information is interesting, timely and trending. If you post yesterday’s news today, you will not be able to capitalise on this for your brand.

Tip 7: – Don’t be a stranger:

Put the social in social media. Always plan acitivities around your Facebook page, making it a fun place for your audience to hangout! Plan giveaways, discounts, conferences, Facebook parties and more…

Tip 8: – Brand recognition

Your promotions and contests should be innovative and creative enough to connect emotionally with the users.

Tip 9 : – Facebook Ads

Studies show that running a Facebook campaign is extremely effective and unlike traditional advertising it doesn’t have to blow your marketing budget.

Tip 10: – Monitoring ROI

Facebook provides insights on how many people have been reached, who is talking about you, the number of likes you page has etc. Keep monitoring these to understand how successful your Facebook posts have been.

I have already started implementing some of these tips and I am seeing positive effects on the Facebook campaigns I manage.  But don’t just take my word for it, follow these tips and find out for yourself.
